How to Perform a Dyne Test

Testing surface energy is quick and straightforward. Follow these steps for accurate results.

1

Clean the Surface

Ensure the material substrate is completely free of dust, oils, and contaminants before testing.

2

Apply the Ink

Draw a straight line of ink across the surface using the chosen dyne level pen (e.g., 38 dynes/cm).

3

Observe for 2 Seconds

If the ink line holds its shape for 2 seconds without reticulating (beading up), the surface energy is at least that dyne level.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the shelf life of CoronaX Dyne Pens?

Our dyne pens have a standard shelf life of 6 months from the date of manufacture when properly sealed and stored. We recommend replacing them bi-annually to ensure testing accuracy.

How should I store the pens?

Keep the caps tightly closed when not in use. Store them in a cool, dark place (preferably between 15°C and 25°C). Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.

Are the inks toxic?

Standard dyne inks (formamide and ethyl cellosolve based) require safe handling. We recommend using them in a well-ventilated area and wearing standard protective gloves. A safety data sheet (SDS) is provided with every order.
